INSTALLATION OPTIONS

Do-It-Yourself Installation

The Installation CD included in your modem kit, will provide you with step-by-step installation instructions that will walk you through the necessary steps to complete the installation process.  The installation process takes 20-40 minutes.  The exact length of time depends on a number of variables, including the Internet Service Provider, the operating system and other applications you are running on your computer.  Installation is easy when you follow the instructions provided on the Installation CD.  The installation will require you to plug in cables to your computer and the modem.  If you are not comfortable with connecting cables, we recommend that you order Technician Installation.

Technician Installation

Malheur Bell can provide for a qualified trained technician to install your DSL High Speed Internet Service.  At the time you place your order you can request that a technician install your service.  You will also have the option of a standard installation for one computer, or networking installation for multiple computers connected to your modem.

A technician installation includes connecting your modem to a single computer or if a networking installation was requested, connecting your modem to multiple computers.  The technician will also connect any necessary phone filters, configure your modem to work with your service (if you subscribe to MSN, Windows Live or Qwest.net service), set up your primary email account (if you subscribe to MSN, Windows Live or Qwest.net service), and ensure that you are able to surf the Internet (if you subscribe to MSN, Windows Live or Qwest.net service).  There is a charge for technician installation.
